AboutI have done some painting off and on for a number of years but too often life got in the way and I would set it aside. Finally I have the time to buckle down and do one of the things I love best. Painting has always been a great love of mine and I intend to continue painting as much as possible this time. I originally painted with watercolour and then became entranced with gouach because it was so opaque and the colours so intense. Some of the paintings you see were done with gouach but then I decided to try acrylics which I find gives me everything I want in colour. There is shine to the paint, you can, if used in a wash create the look of transparency as in watercolour and with the addition of a bit of gouach also add some of that opaqueness. So probably most of my work is multi-media. You will also notice that I always use pen and wash as well.
I am retired now and can’t think of anything I’d rather do than sit down and paint - that is as long as I can pick up the fiddle and play a tune or two now and then as well which is the other strong interest in my life. Painting and old time Appalachian music. All the good things.
